Loss of Beloved Brother

Donald G. Padula

1931-2008 

    It is with great sadness that members of the Independent Hose Company #1 report the loss of retired Dunmore Asst. Chief and member Donald G. Padula on Monday March 3, 2008 after an illness.  Chief Padula was considered a great firefighter and an even better man.  Known for his unique stories and caring personality, Donald will be forever missed by everyone.

Volunteer Fire Service Management Course

    A special thank you to the Dalton Fire Company, Station 5, for their invitation to the Volunteer Fire Service Management Course held on February 26, March 4 and March 8, 2008.  This 16 hour course, taught by Instructor Dave Richards, was a great opportunity to explore new ideas in the volunteer fire service and was a great source of information.  Thank you to the members from Stations 2, 5, 8, 9, and 12 for your interaction and suggestions throughout the course!

 

Rope Rescue Training at Station 8

    The Newton-Ransom Volunteer Fire Company, Station 8, was the site of the 16 hour course in rope rescue on March 1 and 2 2008.  We would like to thank Chief Dan Mielo and all members of the Newton-Ransom Volunteer Fire Company for their hospitality during the two day class.  We would also like to thank Instructors Matt MacDonald and Bill Bekanich for their dedication and advice throughout the class.

Longtime Public Servant Passes

Michael J. Guimento

1945-2008

    The members of the Dunmore Independent Hose Co. No. 1 regret to inform you of the loss of Mike Guimento on Friday, February 22, 2008 after a brief illness.  Mike was a veteran member of the Dunmore Police Department before retirement in 1992 and also a member of the Dunmore Independent Hose Co. No. 1.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
 
    The funeral will be Wednesday, February 27, from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, Luke Avenue, Dunmore. National HAZMAT Certification

 

    The Dunmore Independent Hose Co. No. 1 would like to thank Lt. James Gesek and all members of the Dalton Fire Company, Station 5, for the invitation to their National Certification HAZMAT Awareness class on February 19, 2008. Essentials Completed

    On Wednesday October 17, 2007, seven members of the IHC#1 completed essentials training.

    The Independent Hose Co. members would like to thank all members of the Dunmore Fire Dept. Local 860, especially Captain Ben Domenick, for their help during our training.

    The IHC would also like to especially thank Instructor Tom Tratthen for his dedication and determination throughout training. We truly appreciate your efforts!
